1. Photovoltaic grids

Sunlight is a form energy released by the process of fusion taking place in the sun’s core. The sunlight will hit a Photovoltaic grid, which is filled with solar panels, and capture the sunlight. The solar panel is made of crystalized materials, which direct the sunlight through. The electrons from the sunlight are diverted to the respective positive and negative fields until they reach a metal plate, which gets charged due to the reaction of both the positive and the negative charges creating power as result.

2. Wiring system

The power derived from the solar panels is usually sent through wires to a battery pack, an inverter, or a power grid. The panels are normally connected to the roof of the house normally for a personal system. In the case of multiple buildings, the panels can be placed on a large flat field.

3. Batteries

A battery enables homes to have power during times that the sun is not available like during the night. Batteries are often used in personal solar power storage stations. A completely filled battery has the capability of lasting for a week or even more depending on how it is used.

4. Power grid

The moment electricity is generated, it is sent back to the grid before going to other houses that need electric power. In a case where of personal home sends power back power to the grid, homeowners can be paid for the electricity they generate.

5. Inverter 

An Inverter is needed to convert the electric current generated from DC to AC. This is the form that electricity is consumed in our homes. Without the inverter, the generated power, which is in the form of DC, will be rendered useless. The inverter is mostly installed in the lowest level of the house together with the battery storage.

Life Period

Most solar panel systems last up to ten years with very little maintenance unless there is a physical damage to the system. Some systems even have a life of up to thirty years. 

Advantages of solar power systems

1. Solar energy is renewable hence; its source will always be available.

2. Unlike other energy sources such as generators, solar panels do not make any noise. The solar cells that are used are usually silent.

3. Solar energy does not pollute the environment.

4. They require very little maintenance to keep them running especially with the fact that they do have any moving parts ensures that their maintenance cost remains low.

5. In the end, it is a cheap source of electricity since after the purchase; one does not require anything to harness the power from the sun.

6. It is easy to install the wires, cords and the power sources making it an easy prospect to employ.

Disadvantage

1. According to Aussie Solar panel system, it is very expensive to purchase the initial products like the solar cells and solar panels needed to harness solar energy

2. They cannot be harnessed during a stormy or a cloudy day limiting the amount of power that can be saved for the future.
