DRM-Protected-Digital-MediaThe full name of DRM is Digital Rights Management, which refers to the techniques that distributors uses to control the use right of the protected objects. Following are some digitalized content that is protected by DRM: Software, music, movie, game, etc. People are very easily getting confused this term (DRM) with copyright protection. But they are different. Copyright protection means the application of technology in the electronic device on the digital media content. The application of DRM can be used to control and limit the use right of the use right of those digitalized media contents.

DRM is developed with the wide spread of the audio and video on the Internet. Its purpose is to protecting the copyright of the digital media content. Its application can prevent the illegal copy of the digital media or make them very hard to copy and users have to be authorized to finally access the digital media. But now some DRM removal program will break the DRM to allow users to enjoy their purchases freely. For example, you purchased and downloaded M4V video from iTunes Store, but you can’t play it on your Android phone. But if you remove DRM from M4V and convert it to MP4, then you can play iTunes movie on your Samsung Galaxy S phones or other devices.

However, sometimes you just can’t play the DRM protected media content. There may be many reasons for the DRM system occurring error, but the main reason is that the network is not stable and when downloading the certificate, the network transmission goes wrong which leads to the error occurs to the certificate. As a result, the digital media with DRM protection can’t be regularly played. To solve this problem, you can refer to the two solutions below to make things right (Let’s take Windows 7 for example):

Solution one:

Step 1: Open “Computer”, then in the toolbar of this window. Now click on Tools option and choose Folder options and a new window will be opened. There are three tabs in the Folder options window. Then hit on the View tab in the middle. Behind Advanced settings, find Hide protected operating system files (Recommend) option and uncheck the check box in the front of the option and then go to Hidden files and folders -> select Show hidden files, folders, and drives. Then hit on Apply button and click OK to save the changes.

Step 2: Double click drive C, find and open the folder named “Documents and Settings”. Open All user folder. Then you’ll see some folders named with DRM, deleted them.

Step 3: Go to Computer -> Tools -> Folder options -> View -> Restore Defaults -> Apply and click OK to save the settings.

Step 4: Finally check if the problem is solved or not. If the problem still exists, please try the Solution two listed below.

Solution two:

Uninstall the Windows media player and reinstall Windows Media Player (Window media Player 10 or higher version are recommended).

How to uninstall Windows Media Player: Click Start menu and hit on Control Panel. Then click Programs and Features. On the left side of the Window, hit on Turn Windows features on or off option to open Windows Features dialog box, and then extend ‘Media Features’ and uncheck the checkbox of Windows Media Player. Click OK to save the changes.

Way to reinstall Windows Media Player: If your Windows is genuine edition, you can go to the Internet and directly download Windows Media Player from the Internet. Then follow the easy instruction to install it onto your computer. After doing this, you probably can play the DRM protected media content normally.
